Mission statement: "To share a unique Alaskan wilderness experience with our guests in a safe, responsible, and sustainable manner."
a limit of 30-60 pound Alaskan lingcod
Lingcod fishing has become hugely popular in Homer recently. For a long time, only locals knew of this fishery in the rich waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Did you know that lingcod aren’t really a cod at all?

We travel 2 hours or more to the unspoiled Jurassic Park-like beauty of the Chugach Islands for these prehistoric-looking fighters. Our lings are taken primarily by jigging across underwater pinnacles and rocky areas.

Important lingcod tackle policy: Despite our best efforts, we lose a lot of gear in lingcod habitat. The jigs that we use retail for about $15 apiece, and an unlimited loss rate is economically unsustainable. Before we instituted this policy, we had days where over 25 jigs were lost. Now, we normally limit our client’s lost tackle to 2 jigs per person. Either you aren’t getting the technique, or you’re just having a bad day. If you would like to bring your own additional tackle, we recommend 24 ounce leadhead jigs. We will gladly provide the rubbery twister tails for your jigs at no charge.

On our “Hat trick” triple species trips, we’ll work hard to catch your limit of halibut and delicious rockfish too. Since fishing time is short, we must keep the first two legal lingcod per person, and we can’t afford to be picky about the halibut size. Lingcod season opens July 1st with a limit of two fish over 35 inches.

Rockfish are open year-round with a limit of 5, only one of which may be a yelloweye. Since rockfish do not have vented swim bladders, they seldom survive once released. We consider ourselves to be good stewards of the resource, and in the interest of conservation, our policy is to keep the first 5 rockfish caught, regardless of size.
